Privacy Policy

Fettle ("the app", "we") is built and operated by Stewart Burton. This policy explains what data Fettle collects, why, and what happens to it. The short version: your inventory is yours, we collect the minimum needed to run the service, we do not sell data, and we do not run ads or ad tracking.

What we collect

Account data. Your email address and a password. The password is stored only as a salted hash - we cannot read it.

Your inventory. The tool records you create: names, brands, models, serial numbers, purchase details, notes, storage locations, loan records, maintenance history, and the photos you attach. This is the product - it exists so you can see it, search it, and export it.

Identification photos. When you use photo identification, the photo you submit is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to recognise the tool. Under Anthropic's commercial API terms, these inputs are not used to train their models. We do not send your name or email with the photo.

Purchase status. If you subscribe to Fettle Pro, the app store (Apple or Google) processes the payment. We receive and store a purchase receipt token and the subscription's validity dates so we can unlock Pro features. We never see your card details.

What we do NOT collect. No location tracking, no contacts, no advertising identifiers, no third-party ad SDKs, and as of this policy's effective date no analytics SDK. If we add privacy-respecting product analytics later, this policy will be updated first.

Where it lives

Data is stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure (D1 database, R2 object storage for photos) and encrypted in transit (HTTPS everywhere). The app keeps a local copy of your recent inventory on your device so it stays readable offline; signing out clears it.

Who we share it with

Nobody, except the processors needed to run the service: Cloudflare (hosting and storage), Anthropic (photo identification only, as above), and Apple or Google (subscription billing). We do not sell or rent your data. We would disclose data if legally compelled to.

Lending reminders are composed on your device and handed to WhatsApp only when you choose to share one - we never message anyone, and WhatsApp is not integrated into the service.

Affiliate links

Some product suggestions in Fettle open retailer websites through affiliate links; we may earn a commission on qualifying purchases at no cost to you. Those retailers see only that you followed a link - none of your inventory data is shared with them.

Your controls

• Export: you can export your full inventory from the app at any time.
• Deletion: delete your account any time from Settings in the app - this removes your account record, inventory, and photos from our systems. Backups age out on Cloudflare's standard cycle.

Children

Fettle is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the effective date above changes and the app will point to the new version. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
